Guh-reetings!
Writing to you this evening in the back of Spaceship Honda (BooBear suggested this morning Honda-Element-as-personal-spaceship. Let’s workshop it).
We landed at the park with 104709 on the odometer:
Currently bundled up drinking brown plant drink (BooBear’s category for all things tea/coffee) and lazily watching a neighbor’s campfire. Unpopular opinion: I am not a fan of campfires. Bonfires, yes. (Tracey can attest.) Backyard fire pits, yes. (BooBear can attest.) But to stand outside in 40-and-falling degrees while smoke infiltrates every strand of hair and clothing, fearing burns to my technical fabrics, this does not appeal. Much nicer to watch my neighbor’s fire, drink my tea and write to you. All while smelling… well, I’m living in a car. So I don’t smell great. But at least I don’t smell like I’m trying to date a smoke jumper.
There are lots of photos from the past few days, ponies and soft-shelled crab platters and a few other treats. But this is just checking in to say: mouth of the Chesapeake. And back to meditation retreat for a few days.
I hope you are very warm and dry and out of the wind… three qualities I’ve come to cherish this past week.
G’night,
:shannon
Hope your morning is sunny and smoke-free!
We wanted to thank you again for the cooler!!! It will come in handy when we head back out on the road to the blue ridge mountains and Shenandoah Nat. park next month. Can’t wait to follow your full journey. It’s been 30 years since my three month trek across the country. Have you seen Nomadland yet???? Check it out!!! Peace, Margie and Michael from assateague!
