Greetings! The adventure has begun.
I know. When does the adventure ever end? Never mind. :)
Departed Baltimore with 104267 on the odometer. Dropped BooBear at BWI and drove three hours through not insignificant rain to Assateague National Seashore.
My inner tween was singing the whole way. :)
Unfortunately there were no ponies to be seen upon arrival. They were tucked up for the night, hiding from said aforementioned rain…
A little more of that ASMR for your enjoyment. (PS: Jim. ASMR is shorthand for lovely audio noises. You can read more about it on Wikipedia, or just Google YouTube for ASMR to get an idea.)
Anyway. It’s been raining like this, or harder, on and off since Wednesday. Blowing in the 20s and gusting in the 40s. Hard life for a pony.
Still, there have been moments of respite. Here’s my little hermitage and meditation hall during a brief sunshine…
And, when the weather’s good, the ponies get to work. Eating and napping seem their main employments…
And for this second photo, may I point out that sky??? If it were painting, I’d say, nope. Too contrived. But there it is.
Here’s another example…
When it’s not thunderstorming, it’s performing beautiful beachness.
Mmm. Speaking of thunderstorming, this one rolled through yesterday:
And my little tent stood strong, nary a drop of rain inside. I mention because someone (hello, Stephen!) asked about the tent. The make is TarpTent, the model is Moment. This particular model is no longer in production, which I think a shame. Sub-two-pounds and a champion. But they make others. I highly recommend anything by the company.
What else can I tell you? There are more photos if you’re interested on a public iCloud album here. Some repeats, some not.
But. I should get back to the business of Assateague Island, which is a meditation retreat.
Bisous!

PS: Happy Birthday, Rachel!
First of all how many takes did it require to get that mid-air leap?! 😂👏🏼 I love going on this adventure with you. I’ve never heard of Assateague Island before but living this close I’m gonna have to get some ASMR in person, no more excuses. Your writing and sense of humor put me in th passenger seat for the adventure. Where to next????!!!
